This man is limited in physical ability (supposedly) such as not being able to walk the legal 50-200 feet (varies by state) without rest or aid yet has the ability to climb up into that truck without issue.

Obligatory:
I never knew the DMV counted a small penis as a handicap!

Maybe he has fitted a stairlift on the drivers side.

You’re going to make yourself sick worrying about what everyone else is doing.

I’d seriously recommend not judging others when you don’t even have the slightest inkling what they could be going through. The data points of owning a lifted truck and having a handicap plate hardly tells you much of anything.
Prosthetics? Chronic injuries? Serious chronic fatigue symptoms? Even if they appear to be 100% healthy, it doesn’t mean that they are. There are dozens of physical and mental conditions which could be present which someone who has the knowledge and authority has deemed sufficient and has signed off on it.

They could have a disorder that doesn’t affect their physical abilities, but their stamina. For example, cystic fibrosis.

Not enough stars.
My brother shattered his hip two years ago which required a year of rehab, and has a handi-tag on his Sequoia. It is a big vehicle, but the perfect height for him that doesn’t cause any pain for him getting in and out.

I use to have this customer, back when I still worked on stupid rover things, who had a very nice Disco2 with a lift and black steelies, roof rack, bull bars, swing away tire carrier, winch, the works. Beautiful, for a rover. Really cool, mid 30’s surfer dude owned it. This guy could jump in and out of that thing and walk around better than most people, fairly athletic guy. Always had the handicap placard hanging from the mirror, but I never knew why and it wasn’t my place to ask.
Well, one day, he parks in the handicap spot out front of the shop like he usually does, when another guy rolls up and just starts yelling at the guy for parking there and cheating the system and hurting people who are actually handicapped. When all of a sudden the first guy just rolls up his pant leg, TITANIUM!!!! Guy number two hangs his head in shame and drives away.
I never did find out how he list his leg, but he made his living selling prosthetics. Did rather well too.

There are a whole multitude of reasons one might have a handicap plate totally unrelated to their ability to enter and exit a pickup truck, which, I might add, are frequently easier to easier to enter/exit than a normal car.

Possibly.

No worrying. Personally don't care if this guy is handicapped or not or why he chose his truck as a mode of transportation. Just thought it was interesting/curious/odd choice

That’s actually a thing, more or less.

I’ve been pretty vocal about asshats in handicapped spots here on Jalopnik/Oppo, but as others have said this bro may have a legit disability . I get angry at people who don’t belong in those spots because my wife is a wheelchair user. However, if they have the tags they get a pass from me. Now no tags, that’s another story.

Not judging. I just thought it was an odd choice of transportation. I’m generally pretty practical so I would think a lifted truck would be a poor choice for someone with any disability. But I encourage people to drive what makes them happy.

He may be disabled. I don’t know. As I stated elsewhere I just thought it was an odd choice since any normal sized human would have difficulty getting in and out because it sits so high.
Maybe he has a lift or retractable stairs.
I just saw it and said “huh that looks more difficult than it should”

Possibly.

I hear you...and my gut reaction would have probably been the same, but if they have the tags they probably have them for a reason. Unless it’s a young kid who got them from a deceased grandparent. Sometimes that happens and fuck those guys.

I’m always amazed how some people can overcome adversity like that.
There's a famous local artist around here with no arms. He mostly uses his mouth and feet but will use his prosthetics. Before I realized who he was I saw him playing darts in a bar. He showed me how his prosthetics worked. He was really good and beat guys with arms easily.

I didn’t get a good look but he was at least in his 40s.
I remember a kid in high school got his grandparent’s car after they died. He rode around with the handicap tags until they expired. Whenever a stranger called him out on it he'd make up a reason and they'd just apologize and move on.

That is really cool.
It makes me sad/angry that our government sends these guys off to war and then they come back and are told to go fly a kite by the people who promised to support them. At least there are charities and businesses willing to help.

I know a lot of older people prefer CUVs because they don't have to climb up or down to get in and out. This was so high I think anyone short of an NBA player would have difficulty

To add: I’ve known of a few people who fake issues just so they can claim disability and retire early. I also know of a couple who could work just about any desk job but don’t because they’d lose their disability benefits and they make more money working for cash under the table plus disability than they would otherwise.
It's the few like that that ruin it for everyone.

Me too. Those people have earned my respect. Not so sure about the guy with the jacked up ferd, though I try to hold my opinion on such matters these days.

I give people the benefit of the doubt in most situations. Hence the question mark. I still think it's an odd choice of vehicle.

Completely agree. Most people automatically assume no wheelchair = not handicapped unfortunately.

Probably a lot easier to get in and out of than a Miata, though, much less an Elise!
